What is the ISEE?
Many independent and magnet schools around the United States use the ISEE exam as a standardized test necessary for their admissions process. The test is used for grades 2 through 12. The ISEE focuses on verbal, reading, math, and essay writing skills, much like the ACT and SAT exams used in the college admissions process. This test score can be a crucial element in your student’s school application!
There are four different levels for the ISEE exam. The Primary Level is for students applying to grades 2 through 4, the Elementary Level is for grades 5 and 6, the Middle Level is for grades 7 and 8, and the Upper Level is for applying to grades 9 through 12. While the difficulty of the material from level to level gets progressively more difficult, the section types are the same. There is a Verbal Reasoning section, a Quantitative reasoning section, a Reading Comprehension section, a Mathematics Achievement section, and an Essay section.
